Iceland acoustic sensation Arny Margret will release her amazing new record I Miss You, I Do in Spring 2025 via One Little Independent Records. Arny Margret has been making waves not only in her Icelandic hometown but across Europe and the US, touring extensively, supporting Leif Vollebekk, Passenger, Blake Mills, Asgeir and more, as well as playing the likes of SXSW, The Great Escape, Newport Folk Festival, Reykjavik Calling, and Iceland Airwaves. Her gorgeous debut album, āthey only talk about the weatherā was released in October 2022. She cites influences from the likes of Andy Shauf, Phoebe Bridgers, Bon Iver and Gregory Alan Isakov. Born and raised in a small town called Isafjordur, she attended music school from the age of 6 learning to play the piano and gradually taught herself guitar. She recorded at studio Hljodriti in Hafnarfjordur and continues to make her mark globally with her intimate and affecting live performances.Ā
Arny Margret, Icelandās remarkable and poetic upcoming singer-songwriter, is due to release her second album āI Miss You, I Doā on March 7th via One Little Independent Records. The follow-up to 2022ās celebrated, minimalist folk debut āthey only talk about the weatherā sees her working with new producers in America to develop and hone a sound thatās more textured, expansive, and mature.
āI Miss You, I Doā incorporates sessions from Arny Margretās trips to New York City, North Carolina, and Colorado, as well as those recorded in Iceland. During extensive international touring, she wrote prolifically and spent time getting to know producers and musicians who each brought their own unique and individual talents to the project. Arnyās atmospheric and introspective material has been layered with country-inflected full band ensembles, keys, banjo, harmonium, slide guitar and more, adding an ambience that only enhances her natural ability to convey crystal-clear imagery within thematically rich writing.
In pursuit of her creative vision, Arny enlisted producers Josh Kaufman, Andrew Berlin, Brad Cook, and Guưm. āKiddiā Kristinn Jónsson. Josh Kaufman is best known for his work with Grateful Dead founder Bob Weir, The National, This Is TheĀ Kit, Hiss Golden Messenger, Josh Ritter, and The War On Drugs. Andrew Berlin, GRAMMY nominated for his work on Gregory Alan Isakovās record āEvening Machinesā, also mixes national punk rock staples such as A Wilhelm Scream, Rise Against, and Teenage Bottlerocket. Brad Cook served as a producer for Bon Iver, Big Red Machine, Waxahatchee, Hand Habits, Kevin Morby, and Whitney amongst others. Arny also returned to Iceland to record with her long-time collaborator and friend Kiddi Jónsson in ReykjavĆk, Iceland.
On āI Miss You, I Doā, Arny is supported by many friends that sheās made along the way, but in its entirety it flows as a singular, conceptual piece and is a testament to her exceptional talent. Arny co-produced every song on the album, giving it a throughline, and though the musicality is collected from variety, they all importantly provide backing to a rare voice, one that is as touching as it is honest.
